International Programming Summer School at UzhNU

On Friday, August 11, Programming Summer School started its activity at the Faculty of Information Technologies of Uzhhorod National University. The training and competitions for the best IT students are held in Uzhhorod for the second time, but this time the school is international, since this year programmers from the Jagiellonian University (Krakow, Poland) joined the Ukrainian teams. Some lecturers of the summer school have also come from abroad.

The most gifted young programmers, including the winners of the national and international competitions, gathered at UzhNU. They will study together and compete with each other till the 19th of August. At first the participants will attend lectures and later tutorials where they will have to solve the tasks prepared by the organizers.

 In general, more than a hundred students from two dozens of the most powerful Ukrainian universities came to Uzhhorod. These are Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Borys Hrinchenko Kyiv University, Odessa National Polytechnic University, Odessa Mechnikov National University, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Lviv State University of Life Safety, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Ukrainian National Forestry University, Ukrainian Catholic University, Lesya Ukrainka Eastern European National University, Karazin Kharkiv National University. Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics, Ternopil Ivan Pul’uj National Technical University and already mentioned Jagiellonian University. The team of Khust gymnasium-boarding school is also represented at the Summer School.

This year's lectures and competitions are held in two leagues.

The lecturers of the first league are Vasyl Biletskyy ("Persistent data structures"), Roman Bilyy and Vitaliy Herasymiv ( "Cartesian trees"), Pavlo Irzhavskyy ( "String algorithms"), Matviy Aslandukov ("Fast Fourier Transform") Roman Rubanenko and Yevhen Zadorozhniy ("Number Theory"), Taras Savitskyy ("Flows").

 In the second league the lecturers are Sehiy Oryshych ( "Dynamic programming"), Valentyn Melnyk ("Custom tasks"), Andriy Mostovyy ("Probability Theory"), Pavlo Chemerys ("Hashing and prefix function"), Vyacheslav Ocheretnyy ("Segment tree"), Kyryl Mykhailov ("Pair programming").
