"The Chronicle of the Faculty of Foreign Philology "50 years" was presented at UzhNU
On Wednesday, April 25, 2018, the presentation of the book "The Chronicle of the Faculty of Foreign Philology “50 years" took place at Uzhhorod National University. The book contains teachers’ reminiscences, documents, and photographs that depict the history of the faculty and its achievements.
The presentation ceremony was opened by the dean of the Faculty of Foreign Philology, Mykhaylo Roshko, who thanked all the present and noted that the chronicle which was being presented contained all the texts, surnames, photographs, titles of books and achievements of the faculty.
It became possible to publish the book owing to well-coordinated work of the faculty team, and hard work of the head of the Department of Classical and Romanian Philology Emilia Shved. "The publication of this book is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of our faculty. It illustrates the development of the faculty from a small structure, which was located in several classrooms, to a powerful scientific unit. The book is based on archival documents, newspaper articles, reminiscences of "the veterans" - former deans of the faculty, alumni and materials provided by the heads of the departments."
The publishers of the chronicles point out that they have collected a lot of photos, therefore it was decided to create two blocks: the first one containing the factual information about the life of the faculty and another one with a collection of photos. The idea of the book cover belongs to Professor Myroslava Fabian.
The Faculty of Foreign Philology of UzhNU is not the first to publish its chronicles. There are some other faculties of UzhNU that can be proud of their own editions, particularly the Faculties of Mathematics, Chemistry, and History.
