Uzhhorod National University and Charles University have signed a Cooperation Agreement
Today, on January 12th, the Rector of Uzhhorod National University, Professor Volodymyr Smolanka and the Rector of Charles University (Czech Republic), Professor Tomas Zima have signed a cooperation agreement between the two universities. Charles University is one of the oldest universities in the world and one of the most famous in Central Europe.
According to Volodymyr Smolanka, the agreement provides a number of items: the exchange of students and teachers, joint Master’s and Doctoral programmes, joint submissions of research projects to various European and world level competitions, etc.
"This is a very important event not only for UzhNU but also for the whole of Transcarpathia. We are raising our cooperation to a much higher level, - said Volodymyr Smolanka. – It’s a great honour for us. Charles University is one of the most renowned institutions in Europe and belongs to 2% of the best universities in the world".
The Rector of UzhNU has also added that Uzhhorod University has already signed agreements with 17 universities of Europe, North America and Asia.
The Rector of Charles University Tomas Zima has noted that he is happy to establish the cooperation, and owing to the signed agreement both universities will expand their capabilities. Charles University is willing to share its successful practices with UzhNU.
The signing ceremony was also attended by the Rector of the University of Prešov Peter Koni, representatives of Charles University, Consul General of the Czech Republic in Lviv Miroslav Klima, Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Uzhhorod Otto Kovchar, Honorary Consul of the Slovak Republic to Ukraine Stanislav Obitskyy and the first deputy head of the Transcarpathian Regional Council Yosyp Borto.
