UzhNU ranked 11th among Ukrainian universities in QS World University Rankings: EECA

UzhNU ranked 11th among Ukrainian universities in QS World University Rankings: EECA

One of the most significant success criteria for modern universities is their presence in the world rankings. Currently, QS World University Rankings  is one of the world-renowned rankings. On October 15, 2019, UzhNU was included into the QS World University Rankings by Region, namely into top 350 developing universities in Europe and Central Asia - QS World University Rankings: EECA (published since 2014). The inclusion into this ranking is the precondition for being included into the QS World University Rankings.

UzhNU was included into the QS World University Rankings by Region for the first time. Now, the university is in 231-240 positions. UzhNU is the 11th among 20 Ukrainian universities, which can be found in the ranking, leaving behind even some capital's universities.

This was preceded by the painstaking work of the university administration team and the international department of UzhNU in the last two years, who collected and verified a lot of evaluation criteria. The QS World University Rankings rank the universities according to six indicators: research, quality of teaching, employers' opinion and career potential, number of foreign students and teachers. In order to participate in the ranking, the university must offer students a wide choice of Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD programmes. The QS ranking pays considerable attention to the reputation of the university in the academic environment and among employers, that is, the opinion of academic experts about the educational process in the university and employers’ opinion of the graduates and the quality of training.

First published in 2014, the QS EECA University Rankings now features the top 350 universities in emerging Europe and central Asia. Aiming to celebrate and track the performance of higher education institutions in the EECA countries, the ranking uses a methodology adapted from the overall QS World University Rankings®, and similar to those used for QS’s other regional rankings.

A total of 10 factors are assessed, each of which contributes a certain proportion towards institutions’ overall scores. They include academic reputation (30%), employer reputation (20%), faculty/student ratio (10%), papers per faculty (10%), international research network (10%), web impact (5%), staff with a PhD (5%), international faculty (2.5%) and international students (2.5%).

Uzhhorod National University is in top 62% by quality in the 2020 ranking. UzhNU ranks 61st by the number of international students, and the 77th by faculty/student ratio in the overall ranking.

Among higher education institutions in Ukraine, UzhNU is the 5th by faculty staff with PhD indicator, the 15th by faculty/student ratio, and the 15th by the number of international students.
