Faculty of Information Technologies

The faculty of  Information Technologiestrains specialists of qualification level 0501 “Informatics and IT-equipment”; bachelor education for 6.050101 “Computer science”, specialists and masters with the specialisation in 7.05010101, 8.05010101 “Information Systems and Technologies”, and also bachelor with the specialisation in 6.050103 “Software engineering”, specialists and masters with the specialisation in 7.05010301, 8.05010301 “System software”.

Graduate students in "Information Control Systems and Technologies" get specialty "specialist in the field of information management systems and technologies, teacher of informatics" (specialization: modern information technologies, modern technologies of information protection) - "Software Engineer, teacher of computer skills" (specializations: internet client-server systems, modern technologies of software products). Double specialty graduates are able to successfully compete in the labor market.

  • Teaching process at the faculty of Information Technology is provided by three departments:
  • Information Control Systems and Technologies (ICST) (graduate department);
  • Software Systems(SS) (graduate department);
  • Physico-mathematical disciplines.

For today, the number of students at the faculty of Information Technologies comes to almost 500 people, including 200 students at the correspondence department. The number of computerized workplaces exceeds 100.

Professional training at the faculty of Information Technologies is provided by 32 teachers. 24 teachers (75%) have academic degree and academic rank, 7 teachers (22%) have Doctor of Science and professors degree.

Since 2012 the faculty of Information Technologies takes the third stage of National Student Olympiad in Informatics, the third stage of National Student Olympiad in information technologies, and the first stage of National Student Olympiad in computer science, where the best student teams of programming of Transcarpathian region take part.

Students of the faculty of Information Technologies are active in International and National student competitions, where they regularly take winning places.

Students of the faculty annually participate in national and international branch conferences, exhibitions and competitions, Olympiads in Informatics. Most of the submitted student’s works received awards.

The faculty of Information Technologies keeps in touch with leading academic institutions in Ukraine and abroad. Great support in the establishment of the faculty was provided by the dean of the Faculty of Computer Science of National Technical University "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" Prof. Dr.-Ing. Pavlov Oleksandr Anatoliyovych.

During fledging years of the faculty, he taught important courses for students of computer science. Also, fruitful collaboration has developed between the staff of the faculty of Information Technologies of the State Higher Educational Institution UzhNU and the Institute of Electron Physics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Graduates of the faculty may hold the following positions:
  • specialist in Information Technologies;
  • data, databases or tasks administrator;
  • computer software engineer;
  • computing system engineer;
  • system designer or programmer engineer;
  • teacher of informatics.

Prize winners of various stages of National student Olympiad in computer science and information technologies actively enter to the faculty of Information Technologies. In addition to a large number of winners of the third stage of National student Olympiad, awardees of the IV stage of National Student Olympiad in Informatics and winners of the final round of the National contest of young informatics scientist are the students of the faculty of Information Technologies.

Also, there is a post-graduate study with stationary and correspondence courses in specialties: 01.05.02 – “Mathematical Modeling and Calculus methods” and 05.13.06 – “Information technologies”. Graduate students and applicants under the supervision of faculty supervisors conduct research papers and work on writing PhD theses.

Students of the department are actively involved in national and international conferences, exhibitions and competitions, in which they won more than a dozen gold and silver medals.

The faculty has extensive research links with leading research organizations and higher education institutions, including the V. M. Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute", Institute of Electron Physics of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics, Belarusian State University, Academy of Transport, Computer and Communications (Moldova), Slovak University of Technology and many others.

Graduates of the faculty may hold the following positions:

  • specialist in Information Technologies;
  • database administrator;
  • computer software engineer;
  • computing system engineer;
  • system designer;
  • teacher of informatics.
