New members joined the International Consortium of Universities

On Wednesday, October 18th 2017, a meeting of the Council of the International Consortium of Universities took place at UzhNU as part of the program of celebrating the 72th anniversary of the university. The Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka, Vice-rectors Myroslava Lendel and Ihor Korol, representatives of the universities - members of the consortium including the head of Fresenius University of Applied Sciences Stefan Odmann (Munich, Germany) and the dean of the Faculties “Media and Communications Management” and “3D-design and Management” Dmitriy Popov, Vice-rector of the Pomeranian Academy in Slupsk (Poland) Danuta Herczynska, the dean of the Faculty of Humanities of P.J.Safarik University in Kosice Olga Orosova, the Rector of Stefan cel Mare University in Suceava Valentin Popa, Vice-rector for international relations of the same university Stefan Purici, Professor of the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences (FRG), Catherine Louise Leiser, the Rector of “Vasile Golsdis” Western University of Arad, Honorary Doctor of UzhNU Koralia Adina Kotoraci (Romania), and the head of the State Inspection of Educational Institutions of Ukraine Ruslan Hurak participated in the meeting.

The reports of the members of the consortium dwelt on the issues related to the implementation of double diploma programs and other ways of academic mobility, formation of innovative universities in the context of the world trends in the development of higher education.

 "It is extremely important for us to use the existing partnerships, your experience and potential for preparing grant proposals, the development of cross-border cooperation, and “Horizon 2020” program. Each semester, over 30 graduates of UzhNU go to different European cities to study in the leading universities. In turn, we increase the number of foreign teachers who work with us,"- said Professor Volodymyr Smolanka, the Rector of UzhNU in his welcome speech.

Fresenius University of Applied Sciences was presented by one of its deans Dmitriy Popov. He also described the joint UzhNU - Fresenius 3+1 model of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree. The idea is to provide students of economics with the opportunity of obtaining diplomas of two prestigious universities, by studying for 3 years at UzhNU and two semesters in Germany. After the presentation by the dean of the Faculty of Economics of UzhNU V.Serzhanov of a trilateral cooperation project between UzhNU, Fresenius University and Fischer (Mukachevo), the university rectors Volodymyr Smolanka and Stefan Odmann signed the cooperation agreement.

 On this day, one more university joined the International Consortium. The agreement on joining the organization was signed by the head of the consortium Volodymyr Smolanka and Vice-rector of Alfred Nobel University (Dnipro) Volodymyr Momot.
